Creativity at the Heart of Wellbeing

Through a series of workshops, 20 Wellbeing Champions aged 10-20 will develop tools to understand and manage their own mental health while also learning how to support their peers. These young leaders will then embed creative wellbeing practices within Light UP, a thriving youth theatre community of young people aged 4-20.

"Keeping Well Creatively is about ensuring that young people feel unashamedly themselves, regardless of gender identity, sexuality, or mental health diagnosis," says Artistic Director Rosanna Sloan. "By combining creativity with wellbeing, we hope to give them lifelong tools for self-expression and peer support," added Executive Director Courtney Fayle.

A Youth-Led Social Action Project

As part of Keeping Well Creatively, the Wellbeing Champions will co-create and deliver their own youth social action project, embedding creative wellbeing practices into Light UP’s culture. Additionally, a Wellbeing Lead will be appointed to Unexpected Places’ Youth Board, ensuring young people continue to shape the future of mental health initiatives within the organization.
